Spook-takular Paper Plates
Paper plates are the perfect craft resource and can be used for so many creative activities. Use your paper plates to create spooky Halloween characters. Who will you choose to make?
What you need:
- Paper plates
- Range of crafting materials including card, wiggly eyes, pipe cleaners, etc.
- Selection of paints
Instructions
- Start by choosing a Halloween character you would like to make.
- Paint your paper plate and wait for it to dry.
- Next add the details and accessories such as eyes, legs, hair.
- To make the ghost, take two paper plates. Cut one into a spiral and attach it to the back of another. Decorate to make it as spooky as you like!
Spooky Pom Poms
Make individual pom poms for decorations or create several and attach them together to make spooky Halloween bunting.
What you need:

Instructions:
- Choose the right yarn colour for the character you would like to make.
- Put 3 or 4 fingers together and wrap wool around them about 40-50 times. The more wool you wrap, the bigger the pom pom.
- When you are happy with the size, cut another piece of wool about 20 to 30cm long. Thread it between a gap in your fingers and tie it around the yarn with a knot to hold it in place. For the witch, tie nearer to one end to create one smaller section for the head.
- Carefully slide scissors through the loops of wool on both sides and snip. For the witch, only trim the bigger side and leave the smaller side to create the head.
- You may need to trim your pom poms into your desired shape.
- Finally, add any eyes or accessories!
Funnybones
Read the book ‘Funnybones’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg to get children talking about skeletons. You could link this with your science learning too.
What you need:
Instructions:
- Lay out a piece of black card.
- Cut up the Art Straws into pieces and arrange and stick them onto the papert to look like a skeleton.
- You could be as creative as you like with your skeleton, for example it could be walking, jumping or dancing!

Spider Web
What you need:

Instructions:
- Cut out the middle of your paper plate and punch holes around the trim.
- Tie a piece of yarn through one of the holes and then thread the yarn in and out to create your web.
- Tie off the piece of yarn. You can leave a bit extra if you want to hang your web.
Why not make a pom pom spider to sit on your spiders web too!
