Our Story
Back in 1971 we started as The Consortium, a local authority supplies organisation for councils throughout the south west of England and Wales. We had one simple aim: to make it easy for our customers to get the best quality products at the best prices out there.
That aim has been hardwired into the business ever since. Through 1995 when a staff and management buyout saw us become The Consortium for Purchasing and Distribution, through 2012 when we were acquired by Connect Group Plc and since 2017 when we became part of RM plc, specialists in the education sector, it’s always been what mattered to us most.
These days we’re Consortium, a national business providing loads of products to help customers with the everyday running of their companies, as well as specialist products for specific sectors like education, care and early years. But, big as we’ve become, we still strive to do things in the best possible, most personal way. We want a business that all our employees and customers can be proud of. This means making sure that every part of everything we do, from our products to our service, is as good as it gets. And, of course, that it stays that way.
Who we are and what we do
We’re basically a lovely big department store full of education supplies. So we’re the top place to shop for curriculum resources, exercise books, consumables, furniture, stationery and even cleaning and janitorial materials in the UK and beyond.
